Information for Course Leaders and Facilitators

Booking your retreat

  • To enquire about hosting an event at High Heathercombe, please submit a booking enquiry or email high@heathercombe.com with:

    • A brief description of your workshop/course/retreat

    • Preferred dates and duration

  • We will confirm availability, costs, and send an invoice for payment via BACs once your booking is approved

Site visits

  • If you’d like to visit the Centre before booking, please email to arrange a suitable time

Promoting your event

  • We can list your retreat on our website. Please provide:

    • A event / course description

    • A suitable image (see our Courses and Events page for examples)

Arrival & setup

  • Facilitators may sometimes arrive the evening before to set up — please email to check availability

  • You are responsible for receiving any food deliveries for your group

  • If deliveries must arrive outside your arrival time, please confirm with us first

  • Equipment and bags can be dropped off in the 'Deliveries' area between the Centre and Forest Room and the main car park should then be used for parking

Food & catering

  • The Centre is fully self‑catered

  • All food and drink are to be arranged by the course provider (vegan / vegetarian)

  • ​All water is borehole‑fed and filtered... its delicious!

During your retreat

  • You will have access to:

    • Dormitory-style rooms with a total of 24 beds

      • Four rooms sleeping up to 5 people (bunkbeds + optional trundle / single)

      • Two twin rooms

    • Forest Room: A large (22.5ft x 19.5ft), flexible workshop space with break-out room, wood‑burner, heaters, chairs, cushions and whiteboard

    • Kitchen & Utility: Fully equipped for self‑catering, including large fridge, small fridge, chest freezer, hand blender, food processor, hot‑water boiler, washing machine and tumble dryer

    • Living & Dining Area: Open‑plan space with seating and open fire (fire guard should be used at all times)

    • Outdoor Spaces: Decking, lawns, fire pit, forest garden, medicine garden, composting toilets and access to the moor

    • Drying Room: Located below the Centre for wet outdoor clothes and boots

  • We supply:

    • Wood and kindling for your stay

    • Cleaning products, tea towels, hand towels, bin bags

    • Bed linen on request (£10 per set)

  • Please advise participants about:

    • What to bring

    • Camping or live‑in vehicle options (if permitted)

    • Accessibility considerations

    • Weather expectations on Dartmoor

Travel & connectivity

  • No public transport to the Centre

  • Parking available (follow visitor parking signs); lift‑sharing encouraged

  • The road to the Centre is steep, take it slow and stay in first gear 

  • Mobile signal is patchy

  • Wi‑Fi available for internet‑based communication

Pets

  • Unfortunately, pets cannot be brought to the Centre
